与其他常用的通用橡胶或特种橡胶相比，三元乙丙橡胶的主要性能优势在于以下几方面 [2] ： (1)性价比高，生胶密度只有0.86～0.90g/cm3，是生胶密度**轻的常用橡胶；且可大量填充以降低胶料成本。 (2)优异的耐老化特性，耐天候、耐臭氧、耐日光、耐热、耐水、耐水蒸气、耐紫外线、耐辐射等老化性能，在与其他不饱和的二烯类橡胶如NR、SBR、BR、NBR、和CR等并用时，EPDM可起到高分子抗氧剂或防老剂的作用。 (3)优异的耐化学药品特性，耐酸、碱、洗涤剂、动植物油、醇，KEP570F、酮等；杰出的耐水、耐过热水、耐水蒸气性能；耐极性油性能，KEP570F。 (4)优良的绝缘性能，体积电阻率1016Q·cm、击穿电压30～40MV/m、介电常数(1kHz，20℃)2.27，KEP570F。 (5)适用温度范围广，比较低使用温度-40～-60℃，可长期在130℃条件下使用。
